Where: University of Central Florida, main campus library - Room 223

What: The America Invents Act is the most sweeping change to patent law in the last sixty years. Learn how the patent reform will affect inventors, investors and technology companies. Attendees will learn:

· How the patent system protects innovation;

· What new aspects of patent reform will impact intellectual property protection;

· How to draft their own patent claim to software, biotechnology and/or mechanical inventions in an interactive workshop; and

· How to find the defects and problems in a poorly drafted patent.

In conjunction with Idea Zone, MOSI is hosting its first Idea Faire. MOSI’s Idea Faire is a collaboration of makers, innovators, crafters, and D.I.Y creators with opportunities for hands-on learning and activities, workshops, make-and-take projects, and much more. We invite you to join us as an exhibitor for this one-of-a-kind event. As an exhibitor, you will have a chance to show off your creations and inspire guests to begin thinking outside the box. From gaming and robotics to baking and jewelry making, MOSI’s Idea Faire will have something for everyone.

Come and show off your amazing Ideas as an exhibitor (free of cost) or be a vendor in our Idea Marketplace for a $50 vendor fee.

Application Process:

We invite businesses, groups, educational institutions, makers, innovators and clubs to participate in our Idea Faire. Anyone interested in participating must send in an application before August 31, 2012.

Due to space limitations, we are only able to accommodate a limited number of exhibitors. All applications will be reviewed by the event committee. Final determination of participants will be decided by this committee and all participants will be notified by September 20, 2012.

Orlando Mini Maker Faire - May 26th get in Free

The Orlando Mini Maker Fair is coming upon us. Currently, there are two ways to get in free!

One is to help Dave Woods in his booth. He will be showing his MaxAir swim fins and representing ICCF. If you would like to help with the ICCF representation for 2 hours he can get you a free pass. The time slots available for one person each are:
10 - noon
noon - 2
2 - 4
4 - 6
6 - 8 (closes at 7 help with breakdown)

Call for Invention Convention Judges - May 23

Lakeville Elementary School in Apopka will be having an Invention Convention Wednesday, May 23 from 9 to Noon and is looking for judges. The gifted class is preparing inventions as part of their program and will be presenting them at the Invention Convention at their school. They would be thrilled to have real inventors as their judges. There is also an opportunity here for you to give a presentation to the class about yourself and your invention. The intent would be to help the kids understand the creative process and encourage them in their endeavors.

$36,000 of business training for $1,000

As you know I am a successful serial entrepreneur and have been helping entrepreneurs build highly profitable companies for years. With all my life experiences I have decided to build a very high value real deal tangible training course for entrepreneurs. The course I am building is called “Building a Highly Profitable Company” and will teach entrepreneurs the seven primary disciplines they need to build highly profitable companies or take their current business to the next level.

In my effort to build an extremely valuable course for entrepreneurs, I am seeking an eclectic group of twenty entrepreneurs (note: I am limiting this to twenty) who will help critique my training course as I am building it. During this time the entrepreneurs will receive once or twice a week a link to the next online one hour training video to watch at the time of their choosing. After they watch the video they will then send me their comments via email and I will compile everyone’s responses. We will then hold a conference call for approximately one hour so everyone can immediately benefit from each other’s comments and ideas. The time of this call will be agreed upon by the group. In addition every entrepreneur will have access to me for coaching and mentoring during the time we take to complete the course. I estimate the entrepreneur will need 3 – 5 hours a week for this training.

1^st BONUS - I will give the participating entrepreneurs an additional six weeks of coaching after we have finished completing the course. The value of this is over $6,000 based on my normal rates.

The combination of building the course and 1^st Bonus will be approximately eighteen weeks of high value training, coaching and mentoring, plus access to the finished online course material indefinitely.

2^nd BONUS – I will give each participating entrepreneur a copy of my newly revised book which has more than twice the content of extremely high value information than the original issue. The book is called “Raising Capital Quickly”. This will be coming off the presses sometime in May, so the entrepreneurs will receive a first edition. This book will be selling for $47 and is priceless. The original issue is still available as a free download.

My normal fee for training a client to this level over twelve weeks would be over $30,000. In exchange for this training, plus the two bonuses worth over $6,000 and to insure they truly critique the course material, I require each entrepreneur to pay $1,000 and provide a video testimonial of their honest opinion on the value of the completed course.

Florida Regional Independent Inventors Conference, Tampa, April 27-28

The Florida Regional Independent Inventors Conference will be held April 27-28, 2012, in Tampa, Fla., at the Embassy Suites located on the campus of the University of South Florida. This regional event is co-sponsored by Invent Now and the National Academy of Inventors. Senior USPTO officials, successful inventors and intellectual property experts will be on-hand to provide practical advice and information for novice and seasoned inventors.

A pre-conference workshop on April 26 from 5-7 p.m. is included in the registration fee. It will cover the basics of the patent process. If you cannot attend, this session will be repeated as a breakout session on April 27.

Speakers include Margaret (Peggy) Focarino, Commissioner for Patents, John Calvert, Senior Advisor, Office of Innovation Development, Catherine Cain, Trademark Attorney, Legal Policy Office, Pamela Riddle Bird, CEO Innovative Product Technologies and Louis Foreman, producer of Everyday Edisons.

Afternoon breakout sessions will provide basic patent and trademark information, a searching session for patent and trademarks, advanced patent prosecution, insight on the America Invents Act, and discussion of local resources available to inventors.
